Praying

Urgent Prayer Needs

imageFrom time to time, we are asked to pray for particular needs:

Parish Prayer Meetings

Monthly Prayer Gathering

Join us to pray for the work of our fellowship, for the communities in which we live and work, and for the wider church.

St Mary’s Church (or Hannen Room), third Thursday of a month, Time: 8 – 9pm

Paul wrote in Colossians 4 : 2

‘Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ’.

Sonning Deanery Prayer Cycle

Each month, one or more of the Churches in our local Deaney is featured in the Prayer Cycle, which can be obtained ..

Opportunities for Prayer

Many of us come to church with concerns for ourselves, or for others, or are in need of prayer in response to the preaching of God’s Word. During 10.30am Holy Communion Services at St Mary’s, on your way back from the communion rail, you may wish to stop for prayer at the back of Church, or go straight there if you receive Communion at the rear of the Church. There will also be an opportunity to be prayed for or to pray with someone after the service.A member of our prayer team will be available to pray with you. All requests and prayers will be treated as confidential. If you would like to join this team or would like to know more, please do speak to John Cook or Sue Griffiths.

Parish Prayer Cycle

At one of her last Sundays in the Parish, Pam  Gordon provided a monthly cycle of prayer topics "for the next generation", following the readings and sermons in Epiphany on the role that Simeon and Anna played in proclaiming the 8-day old Jesus as the Messiah (see Luke 2: 25-40). Please use this each day to inform and direct your prayers (you may download and print a copy here).

Anna and Simeon inspired prayer cycle for 'the next generation'

As Anna and Simeon recognized God’s promise in His 8 day old Son, we too are called to recognize the image of God in all His people, irrespective of their years. This list shows the people, places or activities that meet the needs of children and young people in the parish or involve them.

You are invited to pray for them as a blessing that whoever they are with, wherever they are and whatever they are doing, they will meet the love of God through those who already know and love Him and build their own relationship with Jesus.

As these wise and devoted prophets show us, we are to make God Our Father, Jesus His Son and the Holy Spirit known to our generation with praise and thanks for who He is and all He has done, is doing and will do with us and for us.
