A Service of Remembering

Every year we hold a Service of Remembering giving us an opportunity to remember through Bible readings, prayers, and music, those we have loved and lost, and also to mark what we have been through and are still going through during the pandemic.

Due to the government restrictions on services that can be undertaken in the church, this year we will be holding the service over a number of times on Sunday 1 November 2020 at St Mary’s, Wargrave.

During the Service we remember, by name, all who have died in the previous year and were known within the parish. We also include the names of anyone for whom such naming is requested. Family and friends are invited to light a candle as a sign of remembrance, thankfulness and prayer. Within the service there is time for reflection.

None of us has escaped the effects of the pandemic. We are all of us ‘bereaved’ in some way.

If there is a name you would like added to the list, other than those who have died in the past year, please contact the office by Wednesday 28 October so that the full memorial list can be prepared.

Each service will be 30 minutes starting at 3pm, 4pm, 5pm and 6pm and will require you to book your space.

To book, please book online or call the office on 0118 940 2300, Monday – Thursday, 10am – 12pm.

Remembrance Sunday

At St Mary's, there will be a service of Remembrance at 10.30am. The service will include music, readings, prayers, a talk from retired Major General Tim Cross, two minutes silence at 11am and the reading of the names of those from Wargrave who lost thier lives in the two World Wars. The flags of the uniformed organisations in Wargrave will be on display. Spaces are limited and will be on a first come first serve basis.

To book, please book online or call the office on 0118 940 2300.

Tearfund's The Big Quiz Night 2020

imageSaturday 14th November

After a hugely enjoyable quiz night in November 2019, the Big Quiz Night is back, with over 900 churches registered!  There are questions for all ages, so it’s ideal for families.

As well as brushing the blues away for an evening, you will be invited to help families in desperate need by donating to Tearfund. Sadly we can’t do it in the Church Centre, like last year, so it will be online.

Please as soon as you can if you would like to join in. If you took part last year and have already let him know, you do not need to tell him again. Mike will notify those who have contacted him early in November to explain how it will work. This will depend on the level of interest. Feel free to form a team or not - it won’t matter. Individuals can take part on their own, or we can allocate you to a team like we did last year. For further general information click here.

Hundreds of churches.  Thousands of people.  One Big Quiz.
