A funeral is used to mark the end of a person's life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God's hands.
Everyone in the Parish is entitled to a Christian burial service (funeral) either in Church or Crematorium, and to have their coffin or ashes buried in the Parish Churchyards, whether or not they are churchgoers. The Church of England website provides some helpful information.
There are statutory fees and church fees in addition to the Undertaker's costs. Please click here for the current fees.
When you lose a loved one, there's a lot to think about and it can feel overwhelming
